Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will Go to Canada for a Cause Close to Their Hearts – Harper’s BAZAAR

The Sussexes will be spending Valentine’s Day supporting a cause that is very close to their hearts.

Later this month, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will head to Canada to join the One Year to Go festivities for 2025’s Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia. The celebration kicks off the official one-year countdown to the next Invictus Games. The couple’s three-day trip—which starts February 14, according to People—will include activities at the Participating Nations Winter Training Camp, as well as meetings with various members of the Invictus community, like team managers, coaches, and competitors.

The Vancouver Whistler games—scheduled for February 8–16, 2025—will be the first winter sporting event in Invictus history. More than 500 athletes from 20 countries—injured in some way while serving in the armed forces—are expected to compete in alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, skeleton, wheelchair curling, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby.

Harry, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014 to support wounded veterans, said in a statement, “The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will offer a global platform to expand the range and profile of winter adaptive sports. With deep respect, I’m also pleased to share that the Games in Canada will be held in partnership with the First Nations, in the spirit of truth and reconciliation with indigenous communities.”

In addition to the announcement of the Sussexes’ forthcoming trip to Canada, their Archewell organization released two new black-and-white portraits of the couple from the 2023 Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany. One photo shows Harry and Meghan walking through a stadium arm in arm, while the other captures a moment of affection between Harry and an athlete.
