OSCODA – The Oscoda golf team was at the Alpena Invitational on Friday. The Owls took 13th out of 19 teams, with a round of 390 at the Alpena Golf Club.

Jack LeClair shot an 88, Michael Myles and Seth Gutierrez both shot a 99 and Tyler Sheffer was able to hit a 101.

On Monday, May 13 Oscoda took on Tawas Area at Red Hawk Golf Center for the Huron Cup. Tawas won the Ryder Cup style event 16-4, but the Owls did have some highlights.

Thad Spragg, David Dion and Alex Clark all won their matches. LeClair also defeated Tawas’ top golfer in their nine hole match play to end the day.

“Jack defeated the Tawas number one seed on the 18th hole with a very difficult up and in from the green side rough,” head coach Dean Caldwell said. “Tawas wins the first year of this awesome tournament that will go on for decades to come. Tawas is a state championship caliber team this year and we look forward to working hard in the offseason to help try to win the Huron Cup as soon as possible.”
