Lucknow: The state govt on Friday launched the development of the Gomti Riverfront in Lucknow as a destination for adventure tourism.
Guided by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the initiative aims to transform 20,000 square metres of the riverfront into an adventure tourism zone, with 6,000 square metres dedicated to core activities. Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) began the process by focusing on revitalizing Entrance-7 near the Ghaus Mohammad Cricket Stadium, intending to establish it as a hub for adventure sports.
This hub will offer visitors 22 different adventure activities, including land-based options, like land zorbing, bungee trampoline, all-terrain vehicle rides, go-karting, mechanical bull riding, paintball, rope courses, shooting, archery and a giant wheel.
Air-based activities will include parasailing, ballooning, sky cycling, zip lining, flying fox and a giant swing, while water-based sports will feature water zorbing, water rollers, paddle boats, speed boats, jet skiing and aqua cycling.
A detailed tourism development plan for the riverfront has been formulated under the CM’s guidance to explore further possibilities. Simultaneously, govt has initiated the clearance of debris from Akbarnagar Phase 1 and 2 to eliminate illegal constructions in the area. The LDA is managing this through e-tendering, with an estimated cost of around Rs. 40 lakh for the debris removal process. Various equipment and vehicles such as tar boilers, mixers, concrete mixers, water tankers, diesel road rollers, vibratory rollers, tractors, trucks, sensor paver-equipped hot mix plants, air compressors, mechanical brooms, bitumen distributors, mechanical sprayers, tippers, JCBs, and Poclain vehicles will be utilized to complete this task.
