National Defence College delegation to explore Chhattisgarh’s internal security and development activitie – Times of India

RAIPUR: A 16-member team of officers from the National Defence College, New Delhi, on a study tour has arrived in Raipur as part of the six-week ‘Understanding India Module’ programme of the College.
The team met with the chief minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, at his official residence in the state capital and informed that under a one-year programme, 120 officers are on a study tour to eight states each.
In this sequence, a team of 16 officers has reached Chhattisgarh, which will study various aspects of internal security and development activities in the state, including tribal areas. The chief minister shared important information about the geographical location of Chhattisgarh, its socio-cultural characteristics, and the special context of tribal areas. He discussed with the delegation various topics related to education, health, tourism, industry, and women empowerment in the state.
The chief minister said that Chhattisgarh has abundant mineral and forest resources. There are immense possibilities for tourism in the richly endowed Chhattisgarh with natural beauty.
“We are committed to showcasing the specialties of Chhattisgarh on the global platform,” the chief minister told the delegation.
Sai further stated that consistent actions by security forces and better coordination of developmental activities and welfare schemes in the interior regions have confined the Maoist menace.
“We have accelerated our fight against the Maoists. Tribal Development Authorities have been formed to accelerate development in tribal-dominated areas of Chhattisgarh. We have prepared an inclusive plan for these areas, which will soon be implemented, and there is no shortage of budget for the development of tribals in Chhattisgarh,” Sai told the delegation.
Sai also mentioned the works being done by Javanga Education City in tribal Dantewada and Ramakrishna Mission in Narayanpur for the upliftment of tribal youth.
During the meaningful discussion with the chief minister, Major General Samarthya Nagar, who is in charge of the delegation on a study tour, said that Chhattisgarh is much more beautiful than they had imagined. He informed that the officers from five friendly countries – America, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, and Nepal are included in the study delegation. He said that fellow officers are very enthusiastic and pleased with this beautiful journey in Chhattisgarh.
Later, the members of the delegation enjoyed the cultural grandeur of Chhattisgarh at the Ghasidas Museum in the capital Raipur and witnessed the historical grandeur of Chhattisgarh while also enjoying the delicacies of the region in Gadh Kalewa.
