The fest beyond the race: the side events program of Tour of the Alps – Tour of the Alps

The 47th Tour of the Alps is finally approaching. From April 15 to 19, the event organized by GS Alto Garda will deliver thrilling and emotional experiences on the Euro-regional roads, reaching into the hearts of the cities and villages along the route.

Since 2017, the event has symbolized Euro-regional cooperation between Tirol, Südtirol/Alto Adige, and Trentino, engaging with local communities and sharing the values that bind these three territories – mountains and hospitality, and creating a festive, inclusive atmosphere to embrace even those not yet fans of cycling.

In recent weeks, the Tour of the Alps has connected with its audience through two main initiatives: a Community Ride from Sportler’s Bolzano headquarters, led by Ambassador Daniel Oss, and a Bike Day in Bozen/Bolzano at the Druso Stadium during an Italian Serie B football match between FC Südtirol and Cremonese.

The pre-event excitement will peak on Sunday, April 14, in Neumarkt/Egna, where Würth’s Italian headquarters (Via Stazione, 51) will welcome fans, enthusiasts, and families from 11 am for a day filled with entertainment, music, street food, and fun. The big highlight of the day, the teams’ official presentation, is scheduled for 5 pm, offering everyone a chance to see the competitors up close.

Each race day will feature public initiatives organized by stage committees and the Tour of the Alps promotion team. These events, centered around cycling, local history, and culture, promise a rich and varied experience.

The journey begins in Neumarkt/Egna on April 15th, with local product stands and Mario Neurauter’s bike show. The finishing city, Kurtinig ADW/Cortina sSdV, will welcome the Tour of the Alps with the “Bicycles and Lasagna” painting contest awards, followed by an Euregio Talk featuring athletes like Lukas Postlberger and Eva Lechner at 8 PM at Hotel Teutschhaus.

Tuesday’s start from Salurn ADW/Salorno sSdV will feature a bike parkour with bike clubs and a bike check, indoor cycling with “Ciclisti per Caso“, and a philatelic exhibition on the history of the bicycle. At the stage 2 finish in Stans, a bike check by “Smirkbike“, a traditional products stand, and a “7er Partie” band concert will entertain the fans. The following day in Schwaz includes a “Probike” bike check, local product stands, and the “Almrausch Sölleite” traditional costume show with folk dances from 12:30 to 1:00 pm, followed by the “Stadtmusik” band concert.

Leifers/Laives’ start on Thursday will host the local elementary schools’ bicycle-themed painting contest awards ceremony, a “Polisportiva Pineta“-organized bike parkour, and a typical local products stand. Trentino’s final days will feature an experiential Bike Tour in the Lagorai before the stage 4 finish, with Levico Terme hosting a School-class training for 40 students from the Floriani Technical Institute of Riva del Garda on Friday, April 19th.

VIVA FM, the Tour of the Alps’ Official Radio, will enhance the atmosphere with music and entertainment at each stage’s start and finish, while also broadcasting live each evening from Sunday, April 14 to Friday, April 19, to share the race’s stories and behind-the-scenes.

The #LiveUphill Challenge on Rouvy, which started on Monday, April 8, allows participants to virtually tackle the final kilometers of the Tour’s stages, vying for special prizes from the Tour of the Alps.

Platform subscribers will have until Sunday, May 5, to complete the final kilometres of the five stages between Tirol, Südtirol/Alto Adige and Trentino, facing the challenges that will characterize the hottest phases of the race: those who succeed will enter the draw to win exclusive Tour of the Alps prizes.

Giacomo Santini, President of GS Alto Garda, commented: “Each year, the regions and especially the stage cities feel increasingly involved in this all-encompassing event, offering an unforgettable experience for the public, riders, and professionals alike. This spectacle is integral to our vision of cycling as a sport for everyone, deeply rooted in community engagement.”
